Government and the Truth

By |

IMG_6361By Larry Oscar

With all the wild news today one can’t help but question the truth of the information we are getting.  Living in the United States we assume that our “government” is telling us is accurate.

However, it has long been suspected by those of us, who know human nature quite well, that it is always wise not to jump to any conclusions based on what someone says who has a vested interest in telling us “some version” of the truth.  Our government’s self interest always seems to lean towards prevaricators of the highest magnitude who are first on the scene to do damage control.

The recent Islamic terror attack in Orlando, Fl is a prime example.  The quick pivot of the White House towards deranged individuals and gun control rather than the simple fact that the killer was taking action on behalf of ISIS and in the name of Islam should disturb you down to the core.  And to make matters worse, the White House had their justice department scrub the transcript of the released 911 calls this Islamic murderer made to delete all references to Islam. This should make every American stand up and take notice.

We all know our founding principles have been under attack by the left wing mooching class for decades.  It is without a doubt their next attack will upon truth.  Truth is just about all that is left of the unique values that this country was built upon.  It is not by accident the first document of our national foundation, The Declaration of Independence, starts out by referring to the concept of truth. “We hold these truths to be self-evident….”

Our founding fathers knew that any relationship, whether it be between individuals, institutions, or governments must first be based on truth if it is to be a lasting one.  Now anybody with any amount of life’s experiences knows often the truth hurts.  Truth calls out our human weaknesses and personal failures and more times than not it does not make us feel very good. In fact it and is a source for depression in some individuals who look upon their lives as a hopeless succession of failures.

However, the plain simple truth is that you cannot build a solid foundation for a house on weak and shifting sand.  And twisting and contorting the truth is the shifting sand that causes a house to fall ( Matthew 7:24-27).

If our leaders in the private sector, public sector, religious, academic, or family institutions distort the truth they do so at their own peril and the peril of others.  Regardless of how painful or degrading the truth is history has taught us that we are far better off if we face it head on and act accordingly.  We fought World War II against a socialist nation led by people who actually had a Reich Minister of Propaganda, Joesph Goebbles.  He served in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945.

History has taught us that socialism cannot survive if it is under the microscope of truth.  This may be the greatest inherent danger of socialism.  We may very well be able to measure just how far our country has degraded by counting the lies and deceit that comes from the White House these days.  Note how our illustrious President recently gave a glorious speech about our success against ISIS. And the very next day the head of the CIA, John Brennan, told our Congress that we have not slowed ISIS or their ability to carry out global attacks in this country or any other country.

Now who do you think is telling the truth here.  You must remember every day the President gets a CIA briefing on world affairs and global threats.  Who knows best, the one that is doing the briefing or the one being briefed?  Words matter.

The left wing press is all over Donald Trump for his use of words, but when our own President says, “What does it matter what we call them?” the press manifests their true hypocrisy. If words don’t matter, than who cares what Donald Trump says.  After all, they are “just words” aren’t they?

The truth is words do matter. And just because the truth does not support what you want to think, or what you believe does not mean it should not be said.  You can choose not to listen to the truth and you can choose to ignore the truth, but you must never twist, distort, or just plain lie about the truth.

The right to know the truth is a basic natural human right we all have that was endowed upon us by the Creator.  And there is one truth that should never be in question above all others……………Cold beer is always better in the summertime!

Adolf Hitler, Socialism and History Repeating Itself

By |

By Larry Oscar

IMG_6364With the end of winter, thank God for global warming,  We can expect an increase in stupid behavior.

Now most of us old timers know the best place to enjoy the show will be lake area boat launching ramps. Nothing like sitting back in the warm sun with a cold beer and taking in the show.  Interesting thing is how regardless of how many times you tell folks what they need to do before they put their boat in the water they never listen and learn.  It must be something in the human mind that turns off their common sense, or maybe they never had any to start with.

Physics is the study of matter and energy and the interaction between them.  Merely by observing, we have been able to develop the mathematics of a great deal of the universe.  It has been amazing to me how much of the interactions in the universe we can now accurately predict.  Yet we cannot predict, with any mathematical certainty, most of human behavior.  There are several psychologists who have sophisticated theories on human behavior, but none seem to work better than good old common sense.

For example: Water flows downhill because it takes the path of least resistance.  So does electricity, and so do humans for the most part.  Even though humans are supposed to have enough intelligence to stop and reason things out, they seldom do.  This behavior is observed in governments, businesses, and in our personal lives. Why is that governments continue to spend beyond their means when they are warned the day of reckoning down the road will be much more painful than dealing with the problem today?

Why is it people will let their business deteriorate to the point it collapses before they pull their head out and change course?  The old saying that if you don’t learn from history then you are doomed to repeat it is taking place right before our eyes.

My parents grew up in the Great Depression and spent their young adult years in the shadow of World War II.  They saw the National Socialist German Workers Party (The Nazi Party) lead by Adolf Hitler rise to power in Germany.  Germany was a left wing socialist nation lead by a man most consider pure evil.  Adolf Hitler’s belief system was also developed in the aftermath of World War I.

Funny how you won’t hear that from the left wing Democrats that are spewing the so called values of socialism today.  An absolute fact they won’t ever mention.  Adolf Hitler used a from of deception and promotion of the seven deadly sins to sway the German people to support him to the point of idol worship.  The lessons learned then that helped guide my parents throughout their lives are not part of our modern culture today.  My parents worked hard to instill the values of freedom, individual responsibility, and capitalism into their offspring.

Today we are facing a generation who has not been exposed to the human destruction and misery that socialism brings with it.  We are, in fact, repeating history.  Evil almost never confronts you head on.  Evil uses deception and works to promote the envy, lust, greed, sloth, gluttony, wrath, and pride in human nature to it’s advantage.

The leaders of nations and churches today, just like Nazi Germany then, are preaching the same things that Adolf Hitler preached to the German people during his rise to power.  And all you have to do is look at the votes these preachers of socialism get to see how the masses of stupid people are swallowing it hook line and sinker.  Frightening isn’t it.  And what makes it even more frightening is that many nations today have what Adolf Hitler’s war machine was trying to develop then. The atomic bomb.

We have spawned a crop of humanity that seems to inevitably march toward socialism with the capability to push a button and annihilate the entire human race.  What is surprising is how this year”s carnival of politicians lambast and berate each other and never point this out. The similarities between what happened almost one 100 years ago and what is happening today are obvious to any of us who are old enough to live between those turbulent times in world history.

“And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.” Matt 24:6-7.

Smoking Pot, LSD and Global Warming

By |

Sometimes you just have to wonder on what some people’s brain functions. In the 60’s most of us knew it was pot or some new form of LSD. What is it today that makes people ignore reality and be so willing to accept the “spin doctors’ dribble? I personally think some people just can’t deal with reality, so they fabricate a new fictional version of reality that satisfies them emotionally.

The  economic collapse was spun as a failure of “capitalism.” The reality is that it was a failure of a government socialistic attempt to manipulate the lending practices of banks and savings and loan institutions. As a result of the huge amount of subprime loans that were being made, the demand for homes rose. This increase in demand destabilized the market and sent the price of homes to ever higher and higher prices. You know… the law of supply and demand.

Then the first signs of a deep recession started to occur, and more and more subprime borrowers began to default on their loans as the economy worsened. Many banks and mortgage insurance corporations such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and AIG were unable to survive due to the record number of subprime defaults.

This was forecasted as early as February of 2007. This should be no surprise to anyone that the subprime market started the loan defaults. After all, these are the same people who have a record of poor financial management, or else they would not have had a low credit score in the first place. And it should be no surprise that the unintended consequences of subprime lending such as loan derivatives, CDO’s, credit default swaps, hedge funds, massive housing speculation, risky home equity loans, overstated appraisals, zero down loans, and greedy bankers and politicians surfaced.

To make matters worse, it all could have been avoided if the government had kept it’s hands off of trying to social engineer our society. Now we have those same bleeding heart socialists trying to spin it as a fault of capitalism. Are there greedy people in banking and on Wall Street? Duh!

There are greedy people anywhere there is money and power, but even China requires 30% down on all home mortgage loans, and guess what? They don’t have a mortgage problem. In the wise words of Bill Shakespeare, “Neither a borrower nor a lender be, for loan oft loses both itself and friend, and borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry”, Hamlet Act 1, scene 3. Don’t swallow what you hear like a fish rising to the bait.

Stop and think. Life is much easier when you do, and thus, many of life’s pitfalls can be avoided. The global warming claims by alarmists like Al Gore, and countless others, are another good example of this human phenomenon. For years we have been listening to “Brother Al” and his fish tell us that rich nations like the United States are the cause of the Earth’s “global warming.” And if we don’t tax our energy consumption and give the taxes to some poor country so they won’t cut down their trees, then we are all doomed.

And most of the same gullible people who swallow every word from these “Brother Al” types bought into it. Those of us with common sense know that the Earth has undergone a lot of climate changes. Just ask any geologist.  And the Earth’s climate will undoubtedly continue to change regardless of what mankind does. To help settle the issue Germany, Italy, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States put together a drilling project in Antarctica to determine what the Earth’s past climate changes were like, and possibly how fast the changes were.

The project is called “Andrill.” (www.andrill.org/news/sms1). What they have  found is that the Earth has undergone multiple warming and cooling periods, and that the change can be very rapid. The Earth was so warm during these periods that Antarctica had abundant plant and warm water sea life with no ice covered glaciers. This has happened many times in Earth’s history. This has shocked many scientists who had swallowed Brother Al’s line of pseudoscience and expected a stable Antarctic climate until now.

Why, I’m shocked, aren’t you? I’m shocked that these scientists would jump to conclusions first, and then look for evidence to back up what they want to believe. We should never take ourselves too seriously. We have very little effect on the Universe and we really aren’t very important in the grand scheme of things. When we get so arrogant that we think we as humans rule the

World’s climate we need to get a grip. I think we watch too many science fiction movies. Changes in the economy, global climate, and almost every aspect of your life will occur.

Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, said the only think constant is change. What is important is that you don’t panic and swallow some spin doctor’s fish bait. Relax, and take your big SUV for a Sunday drive around the lake. One good thing out of this is the fun we will have watching all of these left wing bozos eat crow.  — Larry Oscar

Socialism, Marxism and Capitalism

By |

By Larry Oscar

It’s been interesting to observe the reaction of some people to government failures. What seems so obvious to many seems to totally escaping the thought process of others. “Why is it that government agencies fail while private corporations succeed”, a liberal friend of mine recently asked? Sometimes all you can do to help these poor folks is just smile. The answer lies in the observations of a man by the name of Charles Darwin. Back in 1859 Darwin published his book On the Origin of Species and the rest is history.

Over 99.9 percent of all species that ever lived on this planet have fallen to extinction. We are a product of natural selection and if we fail to adapt to changes in climate and our environment, we will follow the same fate. Darwin’s observation of natural selection is not limited to nature alone. It is the reason that Socialism, Marxism, and big governments fail while Capitalism succeeds.

In order for a society to prosper the society must have a viable economy supported by trade and successful business. That has been true for all great civilizations, past and present. Capitalism supports the process of natural selection in an economy. Whereas, Socialism and Marxism do not. Under Capitalism businesses must adapt to an ever changing market or fail and become extinct. Under Socialism and Marxism the government props up what the government decides businesses should become, regardless of the market conditions. This leads to a costly and prolonged, but inevitable extinction of the business. Why, because the process of natural selection has not been allowed to occur.

The Capitalist free market is the crucible that weeds out the weak. There can be no greater example of Darwin’s natural selection process than the United States Post Office versus the United Parcel Service. If an outside observer were to pick a winner among these two the logical choice would have been the United States Post Office. After all, the Post Office can deliver both first class mail and parcels while UPS can only deliver parcels. And UPS was not allowed to deliver first class mail by law. A government interference in the market. The failure of the Post Office is a glaring example of why government intervention in the free market process will always inevitably end in failure.

Historically the failures of great civilizations can be traced to an ever increasing size of government and the government interference in the free market forces that result in the collapse of trade, business, and ultimately the economy. Capitalism is often described as “brutal” because there will be losers, winners, and failures. May I remind all that capitalism is no different than sports. When you compete in baseball, football, golf, or any other sport it would be ludicrous to compete and not have winners and losers. So why is the competition in a capitalist business environment any different? Do you think the early baseball teams of the early 1900’s would stand a chance against the teams of today? No way. Why? Because sports has evolved. We have much more skilled players and better training and equipment today. We no longer play golf with wooden handle clubs or leather covered golf balls. Our tennis rackets today are lightweight carbon fiber, not wood.

Like sports, market free competition in business is absolutely essential. And it is essential that government keep the interference in the market to an absolute minimum. We have pumped tens of billions of borrowed government money into GM. The GM story has yet to write it’s final chapter. GM has not been “saved” as many are claiming now. GM has only survived until now because of a government handout. GM will be back in trouble within a few years or decades at most when the government handout money is gone and once again they have to stand on their own two feet. The systemic problems at GM are still there, and those problems will bring GM to it’s knees sooner or later. A very good read on this subject is John Stossel’s new book entitled No They Can’t. It cites numerous examples of government failures in the free market place. You can pick it up on Amazon for about $17 at:

And be kind to your emotional friends. After all, they may have an issue! You also may want to read up on that subject as well…My Stroke of Insight by Jill Taylor, Ph.D. It’s a great story of a true scientist and what she discovered about the brains thought processes.
